Training sessions are facilitated by Gary Roberts, a digital accessibility specialist whose career also includes years of experience as a web developer and content writer at George Brown College, Toronto, ON, from 2007-2020.
In 2015, Gary was assigned the task of researching digital accessibility best practices, a key component of which involved the training of staff and faculty in the use of industry standards for accessibility. This also led to the development and facilitation of training modules for creating accessible documents, including the production of video tutorials for remediating PDFs as post-training resources.
Gary's calm, logical approach to training ensures that participants leave the sessions with a solid understanding of how to create accessible documents, as required by both Federal and Provincial legislation in Canada. His credentials include certification in Teaching English as a Second Language, from the University of Central Lancashire in the U.K.; eBusiness Web Development, from Algonquin College, Ottawa; Adult Learning Fundamentals, Learning Needs Assessments, and Learning Facilitation and Delivery, from George Brown College, Toronto.
Gary now lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and continues to work from home as a freelancer in the field of accessibility.
